This policy sets out how the Simshare depository uses and protects personal information of people registered to the service. We are established and based in Canada, so comply with Canadian data protection laws.  If you have any objection to your personal data being handled in anyway described below, please do not submit any information to us.

What information do we collect?

Anyone can browse simple content-based pages such as the home page, FAQ, Contact Us, About Simshare/Simulations, and website policies, without providing any information.

Password protected areas such as Sim Search and Download Sim sections are gated sections and require users to login or register with the website before they access those sections. Minimum information required to register is first and last name and email address.  It is optional for users to submit additional information to their profiles, such as their institutional affiliation.

The “forgot password” function sends a link to the user’s email, and only the user with access to the email can reset the password.

What do we do with the information we collect?

We will use your personal information to help with the investigation and resolution of any legal issues that should arise.  We reserve the right to disclose any illegal activities to the relevant authorities.

We also reserve the right to disclose the identity of users to any third parties who claim copyright infringement (moral or intellectual property rights).

We will not otherwise transfer, disclose, or distribute your personal information without your consent unless required by law.

We are committed to ensuring that your personal information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical and electronic procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect on-line.

We or third parties may link to other websites. These are not within our control and we cannot be held responsible for the protection or privacy of any information you submit to other websites. It is best to check the privacy statement of that site should you have any concerns.
